Asian Yearbook of International Law
The Official Annual Publication of DILA
The principal means by which the Foundation seeks to accomplish its aims and purposes is the publication of the Asian Yearbook of International Law. The Editorial Board of the Yearbook will, in accordance with the general policy laid down in the Foundation’s charter, “foster the free expression and exchange of views” and select relevant material impartially, ensuring that “the highest standards of scholarship, and moral and ethical values prevalent in Asia, are maintained”. The Yearbook is published in English, as being the international language most widely used and understood in Asia.
The Asian Yearbook of International Law is a major refereed publication dedicated to international law issues as seen primarily from an Asian perspective. It is the first publication of its kind edited by a team of leading international law scholars from across Asia. It has been published since 1991 by Kluwer Law International in The Hague. The Yearbook provides a forum for the publication of articles in the field of international law, and other Asian international law topics, written by experts from the region and elsewhere. Its aim is twofold: to promote international law in Asia, and to provide an intellectual platform for the discussion and dissemination of Asian views and practices on contemporary international legal issues.
As a rule, each volume of the Yearbook normally contains articles; notes; a section on State practice; an overview of the participation of Asian countries in multilateral treaties; a chronicle of events and incidents; surveys of the activities of international organizations which have special relevance to Asia, such as a survey of the activities of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Committee; and book review, bibliography and documents sections.
The Yearbook invites submission of articles, short notes and other manuscripts relating to State practice from scholars and practitioners of law. Please send your manuscripts or queries as follows: those relating to articles and short notes section to Professor Masahiro Miyoshi of Japan on the State practice section to Professor B.S. Chimni of India, and on all other matters relating to the Yearbook to Professor Thio Li-ann in Singapore. Manuscripts are accepted throughout the year and are reviewed on a rolling basis for publication. Please send books for review in the Yearbook to Professor Thio Li-ann
Back volumes of the Yearbook (Volumes 1 to 12) are available from Brill. Volume 13 onwards is available from Routledge.
